The AAF9
is a professional Radio Frequency (RF) measuring
instrument. It excels at detecting and measuring
all Radio Frequency signals between 1 MHz to 14
GHz. The AAF9 has the latest micro-IC
components, pre-amplifiers, high frequencies
filters and advanced circuiting that are by
products of the wireless boon in electronics. It
employs several stages of active detection
(rather than a diode detector) giving it
extraordinary sensitivity. The sensitivity of
this instrument approaches that of a tuned
receiver. Even with this high sensitivity, it
still has broadband detection capabilities that
enable it to measure all signals – irrespective
of being spread–spectrum, frequency hopping,
pulsing or trunking. High sensitivity is needed
to detect the weak signals from covert milliwatt
transmitters, cell phones and tiny hidden
cameras. The newer 5.8 GHz and 2.4 GHz
transmitting devices can be detected at greater
than 10-20 feet (~3-6 meters) using the AAF9.
This allows the quick and effective security
sweeps of large conference rooms or small
restrooms. Signal overload is avoided by using a
logarithmic amplifier with 1000 to 1 dynamic
signal range – making it easy to pinpoint the
signal source at its exact location. |

-90 dBm at
2.4 GHz, -80 dBm at 5.8 GHz, -60 dBm at 12 GHz |
|
Bandwidth: |
< 1 MHz to
> 14 GHz. Simultaneous multiband
detecting including spread spectrum, signal hopping
and trunking |
|
Sensitivity
Controller: |
20 dB, (10
to 1) signal range adjustment |
|
Detection Modes: |
LINEAR -
far-field detection of the weakest signals, 15 dB
dynamic range |
| |
LOG -
near-field localization and pinpointing, 60 dB
dynamic range |
| |
MID -
intermediate detection, 30 dB dynamic signal range |
|
Antenna Selection: |
INT -
internal, fixed, omnidirectional broadband antennas.
No adjustments required with telescopic antennas. |
| |
SMA - 50
ohms impedance, DC isolated; SMA female external
coaxial connector for frequency specific and/or
directional antennas, screw-on filters or
attenuators. |
|
Band Select Switch: |
The band
select switch is used to switch between a full
received band or a band of frequencies solely above
1.5 to 2 GHz. A multi-stage bandpass filter system
is used to reduce signal levels below 1.5 GHz. This
filters out most “noise” allowing exceptionally weak
high frequency signals to be detected |
|
Audio Outputs: |
VCO -
Audio-frequency changing Voltage Controlled
Oscillator
for hearing differences in detected signal levels by
different pitch levels
AM – Enhanced AM detection; RF signal
characterization and identification |
